To tell you a bit more about myself - incase anyone is curious!- my name is Janice Smith (Jan), I have two young children and am a single mom. I just finished my online degree and now hold a BS in Biology. I have lived in the US all of my life, but my parents were born in the UK (England), and that's where all of our rat's lines descend from. I was raised with rats, as my parents were breeders, and I am still using their original lines at L7. Although I run a small home-based rattery, I make it a point to keep proper records and pedigrees of all my rats so that breeders can take a look back through the generations and know exactly where a rat is coming from. Previously, I had an open policy about pedigrees, but I have found that "pet-adopters" were abusing this privilege and breeding rats that I had sold as "pet-only". Due to this, I now will only be providing approved breeders with pedigrees. I apologize to the 90% of adopters who are honest and just curious about their new additions lineage, but this is the only way I can deter breeding of pet-only rats.
I should also apologize in advance for not being great with technology; I'm really good about keeping up with e-mails and keeping in contact with adopters is very important to me, but my website is my last priority after my kids and the actual care/upkeep of my rats. My camera is not the best quality unless the rats are absolutely still (which is rare!) , so the pictures might not be crystal clear which I apologize for. I also don't update my site as often as I should, but I put much more weight on handling the rats and ensuring that they are great pets rather than spending all my time uploading pictures and trying to figure out this website!!
